Ron DeSantis raises eyebrows with what he just said about Trump

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is changing his tone. He’s going on the offensive.

And Ron DeSantis raised everyone’s eyebrows with this comment he made about Donald Trump.

Recently, in an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) gave the nation some interesting thoughts that he had about the 2024 election.

McCarthy made it very clear that he’s behind Trump for the Republican primary race, and said Ron DeSantis just wasn’t “at the same level” as Donald Trump.

“The thing is, President Trump is stronger today than he was in 2016 or 2020, and there’s a reason why. They saw the policies of what he was able to do with America – putting America first, making our economy stronger,” he said.

He also tried to criticize DeSantis as being too different from Donald Trump on a whole host of issues, including the current spending battle that may lead to a government shutdown.

Ron DeSantis shot back in a post on Twitter (also known as X), however, saying that he believes being “different” from Trump and Kevin McCarthy is actually a good thing because Washington, D.C. needs a shakeup.

He even criticized the federal spending that the Trump administration undertook during his four years in office, even before the COVID-19 pandemic when many say that it was “necessary” for the federal government to print money left and right.

“Kevin McCarthy says I’m a little different from Donald Trump. I agree,” Ron DeSantis wrote on Twitter. “Meanwhile, McCarthy and Trump worked together to add $7 trillion — more debt than our country racked up in its first 200 years — to the debt in just four years. It’s understandable that the DC Establishment doesn’t want me to be president — and I wear that as a badge of honor.”

Ron DeSantis went on to highlight the successes of his administration in Florida where they are running budget surpluses and have been leading the nation in major economic indicators.

“In Florida, we run budget surpluses. We’ve paid down our debt. I’ve kept every one of my promises,” he continued on.

In Ron DeSantis’ opinion, the Washington, D.C. establishment doesn’t want him to get anywhere near the White House because they know he would shake things up more than any President in recent memory.

This isn’t to say that Ron DeSantis isn’t overall thankful for the many benefits of the Trump administration. He has said time and again that the Trump administration made many great accomplishments such as essentially getting rid of ISIS.

But that doesn’t mean Ron DeSantis, or anyone else for that matter, can’t seek the next Republican President to do even better the next time around. This idea being pushed by the radical Fake News Media that Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis actually hate each other is simply a lie. They are in a race against each other, so they are simply going to do whatever they need to do to win.

DeSantis believes that he can take on the political class even better than Donald Trump did. Whether or not that is true is a different matter.

The Republican voter base right now seems to be behind Donald Trump at the moment, with many polls showing him as the obvious front-runner and Ron DeSantis as the clear number two pick.

Of course, polls aren’t everything. Many polls in 2016 never gave Donald Trump a chance to win the nomination that year until the ballots started to come in and showed that Trump was a major hit with conservatives all over the country.

It’s also still unclear what impact, if any, the Trump indictments will have on the sentiment of the conservative voter base when they have to pick between Trump and the field. Thus far though, Trump is faring quite well.
